# Track and artist artwork

> Lookup parameters, source attribution, verified matches, and neutral image fallbacks.

## Track or album art

```text theme={null}
GET /v1/music/artwork?artist=...&track=...
GET /v1/music/artwork?artist=...&album=...&type=album
```

Provide `artist` and a track or album name. Artist names are bounded to 200 characters and track/album names to 300. Invalid queries return 400.

The lookup first checks Last.fm detail metadata, then a verified Apple catalogue match. A successful JSON response contains `image`, `source`, and `sourceUrl`. `clientLookup` may be true when a client-side catalogue fallback is appropriate. An empty image with a null source means no trusted match was found.

## Artist portraits

```text theme={null}
GET /v1/music/artist-image?artist=...
```

The adapter uses exact normalized-name matches from Deezer, validates the portrait host and source link, and avoids choosing an artist merely because the name is similar.

## Rendering and attribution

Use a neutral fallback when an image is empty or invalid. Preserve provider attribution and do not claim ownership of provider artwork. Lookup results can be cached internally for 24 hours; outer responses remain no-store.

## Troubleshooting

Check the exact artist/track names and response source before assuming an image bug. Catalogue limits, missing metadata, and unavailable upstream services can all prevent a trusted match.
