# Failures should be predictable.

> Handling HTTP errors, upstream failures, and retries.

Check the HTTP status before interpreting a response body. Endpoint-specific error payloads may differ.

| Status | Typical interpretation |
| - | - |
| 400 | Invalid input or a missing required parameter |
| 401 / 403 | Authentication, authorization, or origin policy rejected the request |
| 404 | The requested resource or endpoint is unavailable |
| 429 | A rate limit was reached |
| 502 / 503 | An upstream dependency or service is unavailable |

## Retry carefully

Retry read-only requests with a bounded delay. Respect `Retry-After` when supplied. Avoid automatic retries of form submissions unless the endpoint explicitly supports idempotency.

## Report a problem

Include the endpoint, HTTP status, approximate request time, and a sanitized reproduction. Exclude credentials, private URLs, email addresses, and personal response data. Check [service status](https://www.avrxt.dev/status) first.
