# Preview an official Spotify item

> Load an official Spotify link in its embedded player and understand playback availability and privacy.

Spotify preview opens a supported item using Spotify’s official embedded player. The historical route contains `spotmp3`; the current feature is a preview player and does not offer audio downloads.

> Preview a supported Spotify item.

## Load an item

Copy an `open.spotify.com` link for a track, album, playlist, artist, episode, or show. Paste the URL into the tool and load the preview. Use the embedded controls or follow the original item to Spotify.

Shortened links and links from other hosts are not accepted directly. Open the item on Spotify first and copy its official URL. Paste a link rather than an iframe or other HTML.

## Playback expectations

Spotify supplies the player and determines playback availability. The item, region, account, browser, and Spotify’s current rules can affect what plays. An embed does not guarantee full-track playback or bypass subscription requirements. The tool does not extract audio, convert tracks, or remove protection.

## Privacy and troubleshooting

Loading the player connects your browser to Spotify. Consider this before opening an embed if you prefer to avoid that third-party connection. If the player appears but does not play, test the original Spotify page and check browser audio permissions, content blockers, and account restrictions. A removed or unavailable item can fail even when the link format is valid.

## Listening history is separate

This player is different from [Muzix](https://docs.avrxt.dev/guides/muzix.md), the personal listening journal that uses Last.fm history. Loading an embed does not establish what avrxt is currently listening to.

Return to [all tools](https://docs.avrxt.dev/guides/tools.md) or send a [redacted issue report](https://docs.avrxt.dev/guides/contact.md) if a supported link repeatedly fails.
